I call this pot my wonderful pot simply because it is. It is heavy and it fits flat on the element, since I have a ceramic cooktop, this is very important. I've used the copper bottomed Revere saucepans forever (grew up with my mom using them too). They're great for everyday uses that don't require a heavy pan to control the heat precisely, which is nearly everything you use a saucepan for. I only pull out my Calphalon saucepan once in a blue moon. Anyway, after 10+ years I contrived to destroy my 1 quart pan by boiling it dry and forgetting about it for a while. I actually managed to get the copper for peel off. I was just going to get a replacement but saw these Revere 2000 pans and thought I'd give one a try. So far I'm quite happy with it. I haven't tried anything too finicky to see if it performs noticeably different from the copper-bottomed pans, but for the everyday tasks I generally use this pan for (heating a bit of sauce, boiling a few veggies, etc.) it works great and I don't have to worry about the copper discoloring (and then getting shiny again when I spill a bit of tomato sauce or lemon on it).

The size is perfect for everything from sauces to canned vegetables and sometimes having two would be a lifesaver. Like the other reviewers I'm very impressed with the quality of the Ballarini pots and pans. I've had them for about 1 year now and here it goes:

Positive:

- the quality is impressive

- the grooves on the bottom seem to evenly distribute the heat (just watch moving them around on ceran cooktops so you don't scratch anything - this has not happened to me on this cookware but on my previous T-fal pans with grooves...).

- warranty is 5 (yes FIVE!) years and I don't expect to need it

- unlike other reviewers are recommending; they go in the dishwasher in our household and come out right every time

Negative:

- doesn't come with lid but you probably have one that fits it so that's not a big deal.

- on the bigger pans they come with glass lids which for me are too heavy, but you can substitute with same size metal lids from other cookware

All in all I recommend these highly and I have purchased other saucepans and pots from this company and replaced all of my older ones with them.

So, if you're torn between supermarket type quality cookware and some higher priced cookware (like Berndes) - these are the best alternative you could purchase!

I have searched high and low for a dishwasher safe, non-stick pot/saucepan, and I finally found this one. I've used this for a few weeks and it works great! I have cooked pasta in it with no problems and it's gone through the dishwasher a few times with no noticeable signs of wear or damage. Note that it does not come with a lid but since my main goal for this pot is to have something I can cook pasta in for lunch (and cook uncovered) and then throw it into the dishwasher, I think I found my perfect pot! For the culinary challenged, this is about the right size to cook a Pasta Roni or similar boxed pasta meal in. In other words this is a "Medium Saucepan."

This one quart saucepan by Ballarini proves that remarkably well constructed cookware can still be bought at reasonable prices. The saucepan/pot is made using aluminum and the enamel exterior proves that this is no ordinary piece of cookware! Naturally, this pot's primarily use is as a saucepan; but its depth lets me use it also as an all purpose pot. I find this pot to be the perfect size for boiling water and then cooking things like pasta when I've having company and a smaller pot just won't do.

The grooved tracks on the underside of the pot impress me greatly: they enable the heat to quickly become evenly distributed under the pot, just as Amazon notes. This saves energy as well--the contents of the pot (or saucepan) get hot faster. It's green!

The ergonomic phenolic handle is indeed easy to grip. Although Amazon says you could wash this pot in the dishwasher, I would hand wash it only. You can use dishwashing liquid soap like Dawn to get it clean; and a Brillo pad doesn't seem to affect the interior of the pan at all when removing food residue. If you must, however, you can wash this in the dishwasher.

It comes with a five year warranty but I highly doubt you'll ever need it. My warranty must be languishing in a closet somewhere around my home! It's very well constructed; you can tell just by the feel of it.

Overall, Ballarini makes an incredibly useful and versatile saucepan that also can be used as a plain old pot. Great! The price is right and the warranty impresses me. Get one of these today and use it in good health!

"Not bad for the price" 2009-03-30

I got used to having a one quart covered saucepan, and no longer had access to one, so I found this one. The one I was using before the divorce was a Revereware, with aluminum bottom, which served nicely, with the exception of that the aluminum plate on the bottom of Revereware is not covering the part where the pan curves so the inside edges of the pans are more likely to burn something. But the price was a good bit more for that one.

And, I like the look of this one. I like the handles, makes it look really cute. I would have rated this less if it cost more than $15, due to a couple things. The long handle is a detriment on a tiny saucepan, as it is like a lever and if you accidentally hit it, you are more likely to turn it over, so you have to be more careful than with a shorter handled pot.

And after receiving it, there is information in the box which says if you ever boil the pot dry, you have to throw it away, as the aluminum plate on the bottom might fall off. This makes me think it is an adhesive used to attach the bottom.

Also the handle is attached with bolts that go through the pan, although this is common on some cookware, it is more difficult to clean.

So although I gave it three stars, it is likely what I should have expected for $15. If I had given it more thought, I would have done a little more shopping for just the right little pan as it is very handy for making grits, cous cous, oatmeal and the occasional sauce, especially if you are cooking for one.
